The 2026 Indonesian Art Study Tour offered 17 museum professionals, curators, academics, artists, gallerists and collectors a nine-day immersion into Indonesia’s contemporary art landscape across Bali, Jakarta, Bandung, Solo, Yogyakarta and Magelang.

Through studio visits, gallery tours, collection visits and conversations with artists, curators and arts organisations, participants gained insight into Indonesia’s diverse creative ecosystems, from traditional practices to experimental contemporary approaches. The program highlighted the strong networks, hospitality and collaborative spirit that underpin Indonesia’s vibrant arts communities.

Each year an award is given to a young curator to particpate in the tour. Called the @indoartlover Award, it is generously sponsored by Stephen Shaul. This year's recipient, Jocelyn Flynn - Assistant Curator at The University of Queensland Art Museum - reflects on her experiences throughout the tour in the report below.
