Follow You Home: Archives from the Cambodian-Australian Diaspora
We’re pleased to share a recent feature on Follow You Home, Linda Sok’s exhibition exploring memory, cultural inheritance and the experience of reconnecting with a homeland through fragments of family history.
Published by Art & Market on 17 September 2026 as part of its Excerpt series, the feature republishes writing by Linda Sok reflecting on the ideas and personal histories that underpin the exhibition.
In Follow You Home, Sok considers what it means to connect with a culture that is physically distant, particularly when the histories and traditions that might provide a pathway to that connection have themselves been fragmented or erased. Drawing from archives, family histories, rituals and material culture, the exhibition explores the ways Cambodian-Australian diasporic identity can be reconstructed through fragments.
Sok writes about the archive as both a point of access and a site of tension, considering how Western perspectives have shaped understandings of Cambodian culture and how personal experience can offer another way of approaching histories that have been suppressed, distorted or lost.
Across the exhibition, objects and materials become vessels for memory and connection. Through textiles, ritual forms and references to Cambodian traditions, Sok considers questions of home, belonging and inheritance, asking how we find our way towards histories we may never have experienced firsthand.
Follow You Home was presented at Grace Cossington Smith Gallery from 4–26 September 2026.
