ArtsHub Spotlights Pasar Malam Artist Tamarra
Rajah 2025, Tamarra in collaboration with Krack Studio, screenprint on 100% cotton Clairefontaine paper 200 x 150 cm.
ArtsHub shines a spotlight on Tamarra, one of the 15 artists featured in Pasar Malam: Contemporary Printmaking from Indonesia and Australia, exploring their artistic practice and the political dimensions of their work.
Beyond its visually dynamic presentation, Pasar Malam explores aspects of contemporary Indonesian society and the vibrant energy of its street life through print-based works created in collaboration with Krack Printmaking Collective in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Tamarra brings a distinctive perspective to the exhibition, working across soft sculpture and performance to engage with themes of LGBTQ, religion and humanity through art and activism.
Produced by Krack co-founders Malcolm Le Smith and Sukma Smita in partnership with John Cruthers of 16albermarle Project Space, Pasar Malam brings together diverse artistic voices from Indonesia and Australia, creating space for cultural exchange, critical perspectives and conversations through contemporary printmaking.
Explore Pasar Malam, exhibited at Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre (WFAC) from 8 May to 2 August 2026, and view ArtsHub’s spotlight on Tamarra to discover more about their work and artistic practice.
