Grafis Huru Hara

Grafis Huru Hara, also known as GHH, is a Jakarta based printmaking collective, established in 2012. GHH focuses on explorative, experimental and educational methods of printmaking. GHH has 8 members, and the studio is a part of Gudskul Ekosistem in South Jakarta.GHH is a space which functions as both a printmaking studio and a gallery. The studio has various facilities, including 3 various size of press machines, 2 expose screen printing tables, risoand photocopy machine, wet and dry studio room, as well as several other supporting equipment for printing arts. GHH programs include exhibition programs, workshops, residencies, internships and currently we are focused on exploration activities through the printmaking laboratory program. To run our programs, we need to create some activities that support these such as merchandise production, studio rental, commission printworks production services, various publishing projectsand working with several institutions to present workshops, and selling the printmaking tools and materials.

In 2018, ruangrupa together with Serrum and Grafis Huru Hara initiated GUDSKUL: Contemporary Art Collective and Ecosystem Studies (or, for short, GUDSKUL, pronounced like “good school” in English), as a public learning space. GUDSKUL is designed as a collective work spacethat promotes the importance of critical and experimental dialogue through sharing and experience-based learning. Here we have tried to set a system of “lumbung” (rice barn in bahasa) where every resource we have is collected and shared in proportion to every collective need. The various resources from every collective comes in many forms: money, program, equipment or even books. At GUDSKUL, we have pooled these assets for easier access and sharing for every member of the collective.
