Tobias Richardson
Tobias Richardson’s studio-based practice is informed by travel, community and artist residencies. He incorporates autobiographical investigation expressed through the depiction of built environments. In 2015 he visited Krack in Yogyakarta and created a series of gouache paintings of haunted houses after a visit to the annual Sekaten night market. For this exhibition, Krack worked with him to create a large-scale recreation of one of those works.
Tobias Richardson has been a practicing artist since the late 1980s, working across drawing, painting and sculpture. He currently lives in Castlemaine, Victoria, where he maintains a studio for teaching, community arts and his practice. His artworks can be found in the collections of Artbank, Griffith University, Charles Darwin University, Northern Territory Government House, NT Supreme Court, Perc Tucker Regional Art Gallery, Museum & Art Gallery of NT and National Gallery of Victoria.
