Rudi Hermawan

In this image Rudi Hermawan explores the strange practices and mystical objects that can be found at some night markets, from animal sacrifices to “magical” talismans that can cure illnesses, make you rich, or help you win a lover. Rudi Hermawan’s work always features a slightly bewildered, anonymous figure with a plastic bag over their head, who could be anyone or all of us.

Rudi Hermawan is a printmaker and artist who lives in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. His work responds critically to the technological and social changes that affect the communities in which he lives, resulting in colourful satirical works. He is one of the co-founders of Krack Studio. Recent exhibitions include Casual Print, Getback Parlour, Jakarta (2025); Selected artist, Krack Kompendium, Melbourne Art Book Fair, Melbourne (2024); Kelas Menengah (Middle Class), Krack Studio (2023); Indo NFT Festiverse, R.J.
